Electronic Parking System

Electronic Parking System (EPS) is commonly used by building car park management personnel in Singapore to manage and track Electronic Parking Systemvehicle movement as the vehicle access and exit the car park facilities.
This car park management system performs a dual role of an Automated Car park barrier system and Cashless parking fee payment processing system that uses EPS Long range (UHF) RFID antenna to wirelessly communicate the identity credential of ERP In-Vehicle Unit (IU).
Upon exit, the parking fee is automatically deducted from the Cash Card/Ez-link card from the In-Vehicle Unit (IU) of the vehicle. Accurate recognition of the vehicle can be performed by incorporating a License Plate Recognition System, (ANPR System). This offers a convenient way of making payment without the hassle of the driver having to manually insert the Cash Card or tap the CEPAS II card onto the payment unit of the EPS kiosk.

Features of Car Park Management Software

There are some main features of our Car Park Management Software:
● Cloud-based Management Software which is mobile accessible
● Enables configuration to add multi-tier parking rates
● Remote management of Vehicle Access Control System such as monitoring of car park barrier operational status & Controlling of Barrier mechanical operation
● Customizable configurations which can be controlled by Time scheduling functionality which is useful for Special events (eg. Close door Events, VIP visiting, Open house, Public Holidays, Wedding etc)
● Seamless Integration with most 3rd party mainstream security systems, as well as In-house Membership Software Database
● System reset via Car Park Management software

Full Electronic Parking Systems (EPS)

A Full fledge EPS (Electronic Parking System) enable vehicles with In-vehicle Unit (IU) to gain entry and exit car parks in a convenient hands-free manner.
At the parking exit lane, vehicles that do not have a season pass will have to make payment by inserting a CashCard/CEPAS Card into the vehicles’ In-vehicle Unit (IU).
This electronic parking (EPS) system is suitable for car park premises with high than average traffic volume as it helps to ensure that Casual or Season parking vehicles will not face with congestion at the exit lanes of car parks.
A Full EPS solution is generally cost more and requires a slightly longer time to install & Set up compared to a Semi EPS system.

Operating Procedure of a Full EPS

Entry Point Operation

As the driver drives the vehicle towards the Entry point, the EPS Antenna will detect the ERP In-Vehicle Unit (IU) identification ID number and record the vehicle entry date and time into the parking system. The car park Physical barrier will then lift up for the vehicle to enter.
1. As an Inbound Vehicle approaches the EPS barrier at car park entry lane, the EPS system will detect the vehicle.
2. Long Range RFID Antenna will wirelessly communicate with the In-Vehicle Unit (IU) and register the vehicle entry time in the EPS parking system.
3. The barrier will be automatically raised to enable the vehicle to enter the car park
4. The barrier will be lowered after the vehicle exit the system entry point

Exit Point Operation

At the Exit, the EPS long range Antenna will again read the In-Vehicle Unit (IU) identification number and cross-reference it with the database of the vehicle entry records.
The system will compute the parking charges payable and display the amount onto the LED display situated at the Exit Terminal.
A wireless signal will be transmitted to the In-Vehicle Unit (IU) to make the necessary payment transaction. Once the payment deduction is complete, the barrier will be lifted up for the vehicle to pass through and exit from the car park facility.
1. As the incoming Vehicle close in on the at car park barrier at the Exit lane, the EPS system will automatically sense the vehicle.
2. Long Range RFID Antenna will read with the In-vehicle Unit (IU) and retrieve the parking charges from the parking system
3. Electronic LED panel will display the car park charges payable
4. For a complete processing of car park fee payment, the Driver just have to ensure that Cashcard/CEPAS card is inserted into the In-vehicle Unit (IU)
5. The EPS Physical Barrier will be gradually lifted up after successful of the car park fee payment processing
6. Once the vehicle has physically passed the EPS system, the EPS car park Barrier will be lowered back in the default position.

 Semi Electronic Parking Systems (EPS)

Semi EPS (Electronic Parking System) enable incoming vehicles with In-vehicle Unit (IU) to easily gain entry into the car park facility in a very easy hands-free style.
At the exit station lane, vehicles that do not have an official parking Season pass will be given an option to conveniently make payment by using a CashCard (by insertion)/CEPAS card (by swiping) at the payment kiosk installed.
As the payment transaction has to be made by the driver manually, Ez-link or Cash Cards in the IU of the vehicle will not be deducted automatically.
This Semi EPS parking system is recommended for car parks with a high proportion of season parking to accommodate the unhindered traffic flow of the season parking vehicles. It is slightly more expensive/cost more and requires a slightly longer set up lead time as compared to the CashCard/CEPAS System.

Cost Advantage of Using a Semi Electronic Parking Systems (EPS)

Although a Semi Electronic Parking System (EPS) requires the driver to manually insert the Cash Card or tap the CEPAS II card onto the payment kiosk, the cost of implementing the system is a significantly cheaper option compared to a Full EPS system.
This is because a Semi EPS does not require the expensive automated payment functionality. This cost saving allows you to potentially save more than half the cost of a Full-fledged EPS.
*Note that the estimated cost difference of implementing a Semi EPS as compared to a Full EPS is usually is in the range of ~ $70,000)

Operating Procedure of a Semi EPS

At Entry Point

1. As the Vehicle approaches the barrier at car park entrance lane during entry, the wireless (UHF) RFID system will detect the incoming vehicle approaching.
2. The long range (UHF) RFID Antenna will wirelessly read the In-vehicle Unit (IU) identification number and log in the vehicle entry date and time.
3. Cark park Barrier will be lifted up to allow the vehicle to enter the car park facility
3. After the vehicle have proceeded past the EPS entry point, the Barrier will be lowered back into position

Exit Point

1. As the Vehicle gradually close up on the EPS barrier at car park exit, the antenna detects the approaching vehicle.
2. An antenna will read the In-vehicle Unit (IU) unit ID number to identify the vehicle. The ID number will be queried into the database to calculate and retrieve the parking charges payable via the Semi Electronic Parking System
3. LED Panel display at Exit lane will display the car park charges payable
* If needed, relevant instructions and reminders can also be displayed to guide the driver to make the payment by inserting the cash card into the IU.
4. To make payment the Driver just have to insert/place the cash card/CEPAS card in the IU card reader
5. Upon a successful transaction of the car park fee payment deduction, the Barrier will be raised
6. The EPS Car park Barrier will be slowly lowered back in default position after the vehicle has departed from/left the exit point
